Japan is widely known as the land of the weird. To us…well, it’s the same as well. Taking many types of establishments they have, the cafes are what intrigue me the most. There are cosplay cafes, then it sprouted more types, such as Maid Cafes, Loli Cafes, School Girl Cafes, Shota Cafes and many more. This one is about cat cafes. Wait, what the hell?!

The cafe is a normal cafe, with the exception of our furry feline and domesticated friends bringing in the revenue. There are some protocols that must be followed though. Firstly, no one who is below the 5th grade is allowed to go in. Another one where customers have to wear their passes around their necks at all time. As well as that the customer must not continue in petting a cat if it resists. Lastly, never bring your own cat food or cat nip in the cafe. They need to exploit their customers and their pets after all.

The younger kittens are not to be held nor petted. To distinguish between the older cats and the young kits, the young ones are wearing scarves. Surprisingly, the original Cat Cafe, Calico in Shinjuku, you must make reservations in order to enjoy enjoy the felines’ company. The usual rate of these cafes is 9$ USD. I doubt that includes drinks, cat food and the rest of the shebangabang.

Considering Japan’s uniqueness in general, I could predict that they will make a tentacle cafe for various north american tourists, such as myself one day, in the future. I mean shit, they used to have brothels and whore houses but it was after the invasion of the Americans that caused them to be more conservative. Not sure about that, but I don’t mind if there are those who would correct me on this.
